The creators of “Sesame Street” are suing the producers of “The Happytime Murders”, which is that new, totally R-RATED puppet movie starring Melissa McCarthy.
Sesame Workshop says the movie tarnishes its “trusted brand”, especially the uncensored trailer that just came out, featuring the tagline, “No Sesame. All Street.”
The lawsuit says, “[The] widely distributed marketing campaign features a just-released trailer with explicit, profane, drug using, misogynistic, violent, copulating and even ejaculating puppets. The threat of irreparable injury posed to Sesame’s mark cannot be overstated.”
Now, the Henson Company worked on “The Happytime Murders”, and it was even directed by Jim Henson’s son Brian. And the producers say, “While we’re disappointed that ‘Sesame Street’ does not share in the fun, we are confident in our legal position.”
(PROFANITY WARNING!!! Here’s the UNCENSORED trailer for “The Happytime Murders”.)
