Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina shared a huge career moment last week when their song “What Ifs”hit#1 on “Billboard’s” Top Country Songs chart.
And the fact that it knocked Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” off its perch after an historic 34-week run is even better. Kane says, “I’m really competitive, so I loved that our song was the one that did it. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this, especially the fans, writers, country radio and [Lauren.]”
Lauren shared her thoughts on Instagram by tying in the song’s title with their history together. “What if we came from the same small town in Georgia? What if we became friends in chorus class in middle school? What if we got older and had the same dream? What if we met up again years later in Nashville? What if we recorded a song together? What if it sold over a million copies? What if it went #1? What if all of these ‘what ifs’ were true? I’m so proud and honored to be a part of this song.”
