“Joker” opens this weekend, and it’s already controversial. It’s getting some great reviews, but there are people who are worried about the violence, and the fact that it’s hard to not feel sympathy for its lead character.
During an interview with a British newspaper, Joaquin Phoenix was asked if the movie might, “perversely end up inspiring exactly the kind of people it’s about, with potentially tragic results.”
Joaquin replied, “Why? Why would you . . .? No, no” . . . and then LEFT THE ROOM.
He spent about an hour talking to a press agent from Warner Brothers, then came back in and told the interviewer that he PANICKED. The interview resumed, but Joaquin never answered the question.
