1.  You can’t please everyone.  People are NOT happy that Chadwick Boseman lost the Best Actor trophy to Anthony Hopkins.  It actually led to a very anticlimactic ending to the show, because Best Actor was the last statue given out, and Anthony wasn’t even there to accept. 

Some people think the Academy changed the traditional order of the awards so they could close the show with a tribute to Chadwick, but Anthony RUINED IT by winning.   (Here’s a list of snubs and surprises.)

Anthony later posted a video from Wales, saying how he really didn’t expect the award and briefly paying tribute to Chadwick while thanking the Academy.

 

 

2.  Chloé Zhao became the first Chinese woman and the first woman of color to win Best Director.  She’s also only the second woman to win it.  (Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to win, back in 2010 for “The Hurt Locker”.)

 

 

3.  Daniel Kaluuya thanking his parents for having sex made this list of the night’s most awkward moments.

 

4.  Frances McDormand actually howled after “Nomadland” won Best Picture, and Harrison Ford KIND OF showed up to provide some comic relief.
