Danielle Bradbery was talking about why she chose to sing Taylor Swift’s “Mean” when she auditioned for “The Voice” in 2013. Turns out the producers suggested it because of something she told them.
“I think the reason why they pushed that song towards me to audition with is because I did get made fun of. I had really crooked teeth, and school kids can be really mean, so it kind of worked out perfectly.”
Now that she’s writing her own songs she can pull from the bad stuff she’s currently going through. “Now that I’m getting to write, there’s definitely some things I include from people that have been disrespectful. It makes for a good song.”
Danielle wrote seven of the 10 songs on her upcoming album, “I Don’t Believe We’ve Met”, which will be out December 1st.
